Come into these arms again
and lay your body down
The rhythm of this trembling heart
is beating like a drum
It beats for you it bleeds for you
it knows not how it sounds
For it is the drum of drums
it is the song of songs
Once I had the rarest rose
that ever deemed to bloom
Cruel winter chilled the bud
and stole my flower too soon
Oh loneliness Oh hopelessness
to search the ends of time
For there is in all the world
no greater love than mine.
Love o love o .... still falls the rain
Love o love o .... still falls the night
Love o love o .... damned forever
Let me be the only one
to keep you from the cold
Now the floor of heaven is laid
the stars are bright as gold
They shine for you they shine for you
they burn for all to see
Come into these arms again
and set this spirit free

Love Song for a Vampire – Annie Lenox

Why do vampires have to be so damned hypnotic?  I swear that they are like catnip to a woman with my abundantly sensual appetites!  I do still have the inclination to indulge in affairs when I become infatuated with this mortal, or that. Is it my fault that no matter how delicious these mortal dalliances are, they can never quite compare to that wild sense of abandonment to pure pleasure that comes over me each time I sense that a gorgeous vampire is thirsting for me?

Would it have made any difference if the young, exquisitely pale male who rescued me from a very violent encounter with a man here in NYC who desired to rape me, had not also been the most beautiful creature I had ever lain eyes on?  Probably not!  His voice and gestures alone made me feel as though I wanted nothing more than to surrender to him immediately.  Instead, he never laid a hand on me that evening, other than to see me back to the hotel I had been staying at.  Apparently I must have managed to intrigue him far more than most mortals, for he showed up the following evening, and then at the same exact time for many nights afterward.  I clearly amused him, but I also went out of my way to give him some practical tips on life here in the Big Apple.  He was new to our city then, but he seemed to know far more than I did about its history.  He also had a number of charming but rather eccentric ideas as to how life in a large cosmopolitan area should work, and peppered me with questions as to what I thought of them.  It was wonderful to feel so appreciated!

Eventually he took me to a quiet park one evening, and gave me a kiss like no other I had known.  From then on, I encouraged him to continue to do so, though he very rarely gave into my demands.  Knowing him as I came to later, I realize that he was being exceedingly careful and had no reason to feel rushed.  He was grooming me for a very unique role in his life and had to be very certain that I could be trusted with the secrets he would reveal to me later.  Once he had satisfied himself that I was altogether devoted to him and quite willing to do whatever was asked of me, he began to reveal mysteries about himself that made it clear he was not human like myself.  Eventually, he made me his personal assistant and later encouraged me to also provide my considerable social and organizational skills for the benefit of members and the vampires who share this forum.

My former beloved employer and savior has chosen to leave NYC.  He said that some of the adventures he will be embarking on to come are not of the kind that would be suitable for a mortal like myself.   I tried asking the big question that is always on my mind, but as he has never been one to delight in making others of his kind, I got the usual answer.

I am still a very lucky lady.  After all, most vampires destroy any mortal they allow to get so close to them, once they find they no longer have reason to keep them near.  Instead, my former Master gave me a precious gift. Despite my many failures to follow his instructions as well as I should have done in times past, he recommended me to another absolutely gorgeous blood drinker.  Now I may fulfill the same sort of duties for him as I did in the past.  Not only did he accept, he also agreed to purchase the specially equipped rooftop penthouse we once occupied so happily.  Hopefully, I can use my knowledge of its many secrets to my advantage.  This may assist me in finding all sorts of ways to ingratiate myself with my new employer and his associates.

Cathair is from an entirely different line of Immortals than those I knew through my former employer.  They seem to be equally powerful, and no less magnetic in their appearance or ability to charm me when they wish to, though no one has tried to drink from me just yet.  I am not sure just how much my former Master actually has revealed to Cathair about my penchant for indiscretions at times.  I will just have to show him how indispensable and agreeable I am, and that I am more than willing to give into his appetites.  Who knows—maybe I can actually find a way to convince this one to turn me?  I cannot help but enjoy thinking of all the conquests I could make as an Immortal!
